Slough Safeguarding Children

Pan Berkshire Subgroups

Members of Slough LSCB also contributes to the pan Berkshire Subgroups.

Policies and Procedures

Slough LSCB uses the Berkshire LSCB Procedures Manual and the development and review of these are the responsibility of a pan Berkshire subgroup which reports to each of the six Berkshire LSCBs. This subgroup meets quarterly to identify areas that require review, ensuring policies and procedures are kept up to date and communicating changes to the LSCB partners.

Section 11 Panel

Section 11 of the Children Act 2004 states that all organisations who work with children and young people should ensure that they have effective arrangements in place to safeguard and promote their welfare. To make it easier for organisations to identify whether they have the necessary safeguarding arrangements in place the LSCB has created a Section 11 audit tool. The Section 11 Panel reviews and evaluates Section 11 audit returns in order to assess an organisation's compliance with the duty to safeguard and to identify and share learning.

Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP)

The CDOP is responsible for reviewing information on all child deaths. Through a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary review of child deaths, the aim is to understand why a child died and use the findings to take action to prevent other deaths and improve the health and safety of all our children.

Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Leads

Though not strictly a subgroup, the Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Leads from each Berkshire local authority meet quarterly to share good practice and identify areas for joined up working.

Chairs and Business Managers

This group aims to share good practice across Berkshire and to help develop new policies, in light of national developments, as agreed by LSCB chairs.
